Lenten Season Begins…
Day 1: Ash Wednesday

Remember that thou art dust, and to dust thou shalt return.
—Genesis 3:19

Turn away from sin and be faithful to the Gospel.
—Mark 1:15+

For the next 40 days I’ll be sacrificing a habit that I’ve developed over the past few years; eating out.  You may think that this is nothing more than mere child’s play.  But I consider this a big sacrifice.  I eat out daily during lunch and often during dinner.  I’m always around people who love to eat out.  Look at all of my facebook posts; they’re all centralized around food that I enjoy daily.  What I’ll be doing now is either skipping lunch entirely and finding other means to be productive; or begin cooking my own meals.  This will allow me to lead a healthier lifestyle and also better my own self being.  I should probably also take up reading the Bible in its entirety.  The last time I did this was years ago with the children’s version.  I love pictures; so reading the adult version is going to be a challenge.  Thank goodness for Kindle then.  That’ll make bookmarking and reading a bit easier.

"“And when you fast, do not look gloomy like the hypocrites, for they disfigure their faces that their fasting may be seen by others. Truly, I say to you, they have received their reward. But when you fast, anoint your head and wash your face, that your fasting may not be seen by others but by your Father who is in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you."
Matthew 6:16-18 ESV

Today marks the beginning of the season sacrifices for many.  What’s yours?
